N2 - Crystal growth and structure solution of new Ba3(BO3)2–xF3xsolid solution with x = 0.2 (Pbam, a = 13.60119 Å, b = 13.65014 Å, c = 14.87279 Å) were performed. The solved structure demonstrate an unusual for borates feature – the presence of [Ba12(BO3)6]6+cation pattern with channels filled by disordered anions. We identify the same cation pattern also in two recently described LiBa12(BO3)7F4and NaBa12(BO3)7F4borates, where additional (LiF4)3–and (NaF4)3–anionic clusters are situated inside the channels as well. The unit cell metrics of the new solid solution fits well that reported for Ba3(BO3)2compound, indicating that the latter may represent the orthoborate end-member of Ba3(BO3)2–xF3x.
