N2 - In order to reduce the time required to identify the basic parameters of tsunami source we propose to use only a part of the wave form, recorded by a single sensor. As was earlier confirmed by the numerical experiments, this is possible within the so-called preliminary calculation approach, used by the USA tsunami warning centers. In case when the tsunami source area is rather close to the sensor, even a part of the recorded wave profile before the first maximum is enough. In this paper we address the question of optimal design of a measurement system to achieve reliable determination of the basic features of tsunami source by automated software application.
