N2 - The ASHIPH (Aerogel, SHifter, PHotomultiplier) particle identification system works efficiently in two experiments in Novosibirsk at the Institute of Nuclear Physics of the Siberian Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences. It operates as part of aerogel Cherenkov counters (ACC) using KEDR and SND detectors. The new concept suggests upgrading ACC in the SND detector through replacing the MCP PMT photon detector with silicon photomultipliers (SiPM). This will allow an increase in the number of registered photoelectrons by a factor of 2.5 improving, thereby, the accuracy in detecting different particles. The status of the work on upgrading the ACC system equipped with the SND detector is provided.
