N2 - The review summarizes data on the synthesis of fused heterocyclic aromatic compounds by the Diels–Alder reaction, including as part of cascade reactions, and the dehydro-Diels–Alder reaction published over the past five years. In all the examples presented, the Diels–Alder reaction was used to assemble the polycyclic core of the considered molecules.
