The main scientific direction of the laboratory is the study of the biopolymers structure, as well as various organic compounds, the study of the mechanisms of chemical reactions involving radicals, ion-radicals, carbocations with magnetic resonance methods, X-ray spectroscopy, NMR, EPR and EPR imaging, IR spectroscopy.  A comprehensive study of nanomaterials and biopolymers is carried out using the methods of multi-frequency EPR (stationary, pulsed, time-resolved), IR spectroscopy, and new (developed in the project) combined techniques. The main area of research is the use of EPR spectroscopy to solve biologically important problems, including obtaining information on the structure of the  human ribosomal complexes, proteins and nucleic acids in liquids on a nanometer scale by the method of spin probes using trityl and nitroxyl radicals synthesized at the NIOCh SB RAS.  In addition, the objects of research include new functional nanostructured materials - molecular magnets (including thermo / light switchable) and porous organometallic polymers of various types - promising for applications in spintronics and nanotechnology, as well as newly synthesized organic compounds
