N2 - A Resource Center for Computer Science (RCCS) has been established at Novosibirsk State University. The Center includes a ready-to-launch first year undergraduate program in Computer Science, complete with an edtech platform and original ready-to-go teaching materials as well as short requalification courses for the clients' teaching staff and various support services. RCCS is intended for educational institutions that wish to outsource curriculum and staff development for part of their undergraduate program without compromising the quality and appeal of their taught provision. Investment in original concepts and materials as well as recruiting top-notch academic staff for course delivery is often beyond the means of smaller schools in less affluent regions, especially if the program has to be centered on problem-solving and depend on lateral thinking and critical evaluation of knowledge. This is where the concept of RCCS is likely to be at its most useful: not only does the Center support rapid course deployment, it also has a profound effect on the client's staff who will, after a few runs of the program, be equipped, both intellectually and in terms of edtech, to develop further materials while adhering to the principles and quality standards promoted by RCCS. Furthermore, being an RCCS client enables such a school to run side-by-side its regular undergraduate CS program to cater for the needs of local industry, and an advanced one for a few students who may have a higher potential/aspiration, without the school incurring prohibitive costs.
