N2 - We are currently considering upgrading the ASHIPH (Aerogel, SHifter, PHotomultiplier) Cherenkov counters in the Spherical Neutral Detector (SND) by replacing the Micro-Channel Plate photomultipliers (MCP PMTs) with silicon photomultipliers (SiPMs). This will increase the number of detected photons per particle by a factor of 2.5, leading to an improvement in the quality of particle identification. ASHIPH-SiPM counter prototypes with aerogel refractive indices of 1.05 and 1.12 were developed and investigated using a test electron beam. The results of measurements of the average number of photoelectrons per relativistic particle, the light collection inhomogeneity across the counter, and an estimation of the particle separation power are presented. Additionally, the results of the testing front-end electronics (FEE) board with SiPMs and a thermal stabilization system inside the SND detector under real colliding beam experiment conditions are reported.
