N2 - The article presents the design and results of the numerical simulation of an electro-optical modulator based on the quantum-confined Stark effect (QCSE) in InAlGaAs layered structures with the multiple quantum wells (MQW) on the InP substrate. The new design includes the use of the double-layered rib waveguides that can provide a technological and efficient coupling with the optical fiber.
