N2 - MgAl–layered double hydroxides with different molar ratios of cations were synthesized. The compound with a ratio of 2 : 1 was shown to exhibit better characteristics of thermal stability. The modification of polyurethane by using these hydroxides led to the improvement in the properties of composites: decrease by 47% in flame retardancy, and increase by 24.8 and 54.1% in tensile strength and Young’s modulus, respectively.
