N2 - The article considers methodological issues of construction and information support of models of spatial development of the Russian economy. The relevance of using such models is due to the need to obtain estimates of not only the dynamics of industry indicators, but also to substantiate potential changes in the spatial structure of the economy. Over time, there is a need to modernize the tools used - interregional inter-industry models - in order to use new capabilities of computer technology, adapt to new versions of the system of national accounts and take into account the wishes and requirements of actual and potential customers. Another aspect is the expansion of the range of tasks to be solved, which requires not only changes in the composition of the regions represented, but also adjustments to the mathematical formulation of the models and the structure of the modeling and software complex used.
