N2 - In this work, we investigate a new regime realized by coupling a Fabry-Perot laser diode with a microresonator developed based on surface nanoscale axial photonics (SNAP), specifically designed to provide a high density of overlapping axial mode families. For the first time, we have demonstrated stable self-injection locking of a laser simultaneously to several axial modes within the gain profile of a single longitudinal mode of the laser diode. Furthermore, we observe that these coexisting modes are equidistant, which may indicate a nonlinear interaction of the scattered microresonator modes within the active medium of the laser diode.
