T1 - For science in Siberia: from the history of general history research at the Humanities department of NSU in the 1960s – 1970s

N2 - The article briefly examines a special period in the history of the Department of General History of Novosibirsk State University – the 60-70s of the last century. It was the time of the institutionalization and formation of this department. In many ways, fundamentally different from similar institutions in other universities, the department represented a fairly effective tool for studying universal history and teaching the necessary academic courses. This is not about a classical school, which may include a number of generations of re-searchers dealing with the same issue. In Siberia, this is not always possible, because we are not talking about regional studies, but about the study of general history. Of course, there are elements of this "vertical model," but in this case, it is more of a "horizontal" model, where there is a phenomenal community of people working in the same field, although they are studying different topics. The Novosibirsk University had a scientific and pedagogical team that included active scientists who were well-known for their work, which was on a par with research conducted in scientific institutions, and they taught based on scientific literature and source publications. Specialists played a significant role in the history of the department's development and the progress of historical research in general history in No-vosibirsk, and their activities are briefly described (M.I. Rizhsky, N.V. Revyakina). As a result, during its "golden age," the department was a fully-fledged and effective scientific and educational institution, achieving significant success in research and teaching.
