N2 - We propose a microcylinder as a highly dispersive and compact delay line. The cylindrical geometry implies a large anomalous dispersion of group velocities for the whispering gallery modes circulating at the surface of the cylinder. We demonstrate the device effectiveness in spectral measurements using the dispersive Fourier transformation approach.
