N2 - An injector of a beam of fast deuterium atoms with an energy of 55 keV, a power of 1 MW and a pulse duration of up to 2 s has been developed in order to further increase the plasma heating power at the TCV tokamak (Tokamak à Configuration Variable, Lausanne, Switzerland). The ion beam is formed in the injector by a triode multislit ion-optical system with slit-shaped holes. The electrodes are spherical segments, which provide ballistic focusing of the beam at a distance of 4.0 m. The selection of ions for the formation of a primary ion beam is carried out from the surface of the plasma emitter, which is created and maintained in the discharge chamber of the plasma source using a high-frequency induction discharge. The design of the injector is presented, and its main elements, power supply, and control systems are described in detail. The results of its experimental tests at the TCV tokamak are presented.
