N2 - The analysis of geological and geophysical materials in the Kara sea is carried out, within which the South Kara sedimantary basin is located, which is the northern oil and gas bearing area of the West Siberian oil and gas province and the North Kara sedimentary basin, separated as part of independent promising oil and gas province (POGP). Taking into account the drilling data carried out on the territory of Western Siberia and the Barents Sea, as well as supporting sections of Paleozoic deposits on the islands of Novaya Zemlya and Severnaya Zemlya, stratification of seismogeological complexes has been performed, and seismogeological characteristics of Paleozoic and Mezozoic sedimentary complexes have been presented. On the water area of the Kara Sea, regional seismogeologicak sections, structural maps on the roofs of the Paleozoic and basement and the tectonic schemes of the basement were constructed. Seismostratigraphic and structural-tectonic features of the sedimentary basins structure and the model of hydrocarbon deposits are considered, the types of traps are detrmined.
