N2 - In this mini-review, the state-of-the-art of transition metal catalyzed selective dimerization of ethylene to butenes is presented. Catalytic activities, operating conditions, as well as the C4 and 1-butene/cis- and trans-2-butene selectivities, are discussed. The scope of the review is 2000-present.
