N2 - This paper is devoted to experimental and numerical studies of deformations of the thin silicone oil PDMS-100 film locally heated from below. The configuration of the synthetic Schlieren method based on reflection is used to visualize the free surface. It was found that the formation of thermocapillary depressions was preceded by a liquid bump. The nature of this phenomenon caused by thermal expansion of the liquid was explained for the first time using the volume-of-fluid numerical method.
