N2 - The paper deals with experimental investigations of the surface perturbation effects on the flame propagation velocity along the surface of the liquid. It is revealed that at low velocities the effect is quite significant. Under certain conditions the flame even stabilizes for some time. The experiments were conducted to elucidate the mechanism of flame propagation. However, it was impossible to determine expressly the flame propagation mechanism along the surface, because this requires visualization of gas flows.
