N2 - In a separated flow behind a rectangular step on a flat plate, the effect of an increased (enhanced) level of freestream turbulence is investigated on the occurrence and development of localized disturbances generated by low-frequency impulse deviations of a section of the streamlined surface. The results were obtained using the hot-wire method at a low subsonic flow rate. It was found that impulse deviations of the surface (circular membrane) generate localized disturbances - streaky structures and high-frequency wave packets. The separation of the laminar boundary layer accelerates the growth of wave packets with the subsequent turbulization of the near-wall flow. The specific features of the behavior of localized disturbances under conditions of an increased level of freestream turbulence are revealed.
