N2 - The direction of interaction of pentafluoronitrobenzene with resorcinol and orcinol largely depends on the polarity of the solvent and the nature of the base, which made it possible to carry out the directed synthesis of fluorinated tetraoxacalixarenes with the arrangement of nitro groups either in the outer or inner rim of the macrocycle. Polyfluorinated tetraoxacalix[4]arene with nitro groups located in the inner rim of the macrocycle exists in the solvent as an equilibrium mixture of two stable conformers, and the equilibrium position depends largely on the polarity of the solvent.
