abstract = "The author, a winner of the non-government Demidov award, presents the results of his long- standing research in the territory of Western and Southern Siberia and Mongolia. It demonstrated the role and importance of humanitarian studies, particularly the archeology, for patriotic education in society and the objective reconstruction of the history of the peoples of Siberia. The article described the most important scientific discoveries made by the author in the area of study of the ancient cultures of the south of West Siberian Plain (the Barabino forest-steppe) from the Neolithic to the late Middle Ages and the Modern Time. It offered a brief overview of main research findings obtained from the Ukok uplands (Gorny Altai) study, where over 400 various archaeological objects were discovered, including the development of a new historical and cultural development concept for the Altai region, the discovery of an early rock art layer The earliest of the so far discovered rock art in Southern Siberia. The author presented the most important outcomes of the study of the Pazyryk culture sites with frozen earth in the Ukok uplands in Mongolia. A special emphasis was made on the multidisciplinary approach in archeology which characterized the approach followed by a research team headed by V. I. Molodin. Attention was paid also to the assessment of the results obtained with the use of the geophysical, paleogenetic, physico-chemical, and petrographic studies of the settlement and burial complexes. In conclusion the author shared his vision of the prospects for further development of archaeological research.",
