Profile Information

The laboratory's activity is aimed at studying the mineralogy and geochemistry of mantle rocks and reconstructing the composition of fluids that ensure the growth of natural diamond crystals and the formation of the deepest magmas (kimberlites and lamproites) that carry diamonds to the surface. Since the interpretation of natural data is impossible without information on phase transformations and diagrams of Earth's materials at high pressures and temperatures, this research is given special attention. For its implementation, laboratory staff conduct experiments using multi-punch presses and diamond anvils, as well as quantum-chemical calculations using supercomputers
